Open the vice wide and place the (Item 28) valve seat into the vice by the full length of the flats. Using an 18" pipe wrench and shop rag or soft cloth on the (Item 36) valve seat nut, unthread and remove the (Item 36) valve seat nut and remove the:

• (Item 54) packing washer
• (Item 55 & Item 56) "V" packings
• (Item 57) packing washer
• (Item 47) spring washer

Or:

• (Item 74) wiper
• (Item 73) "W" packing
  

Note: If the pump was equipped with chevron “V” packings, refer to the operator’s manual.
